Cherry Tree Celebration and Kite Flying
Anime Twin Cities, Inc. is going to Como for the Cherry Tree Celebration with expert kite fliers. We will meet at 8:30 AM at Como Park by the Mannheimer Memorial on the corner of North Lexington Parkway and Estabrook Street. At 9 AM there will be a tree-planting ceremony, followed by a kite-flying demonstration by Seikoo and Akiko Nakamura of Nagasaki at 10 AM. At 2 PM there will be a kite-making workshop.
"The Saint Paul – Nagasaki Sister City Committee is raising money to support two cultural exchanges in 2015–our 60th anniversary as Sister Cities! SPNSCC’s logo is of hata kites from Nagasaki and we have been long time supporters of the Sansei Yonsei Kai dance group. Seiko Nakamura, kite flyer extraordinaire, is coming from Nagasaki to give our 60th celebration a flying start the weekend of June 6, 2015. He will fly his hata kites over the cherry trees at Como Park on Saturday, June 6, and again on Sunday, June 7. Nakamura-san came to the Twin Cities about 15 years ago and we are thrilled he will come again." -- Saint Paul Nagasaki Sister City Committee

Tickets are $8.50 a person, and we hope to see you there!

We will be distributing proceeds from Anime Detour 2015 to appropriate charities and nonprofits. If you would like to see how the monies are dispersed, or if you would like to make a pitch for a particular organization, this is your chance.
If you would like to get something on the agenda apart from the proceeds distribution, please inform the (outgoing) Secretary at andy[dot]tso[at]animedetour[dot]com . Attending the meeting to speak on it is encouraged but not required.
2015 Board election results
Thanks to all the candidates who ran in this year's election. The results:
Lauren Ganann remains as President
Connie Mohs is the incoming Secretary
David Vetrovec and Michele Webber are the incoming Members-at-Large
(A month earlier, Troy MacDonald was appointed by the Board to fulfill the remaining year of Sari Hagen's term.)
Congratulations and welcome to the incoming members! The new board will wholly take effect as of the June ATC Board meeting, after the transitional May board meeting.
Also, big thanks to the outgoing Members-at-Large, Sari and Brian Hagen, for their dedicated service, with a side order of good luck for Sari as she pursues her graduate studies in Wisconsin for the next two years. As for myself, I am honored to have served as Secretary among the stellar Board Members and Coordinators. Thank you.

Help Support the Autism Society of Minnesota with ATC
Anime Twin Cities will be sending a team to walk at Steps of Hope this Sunday, March 1st at Southdale Center in Edina from 8am to 11am. The walk benefits the Autism Society of Minnesota (AUSM), an organization that offers support and services to individuals with autism, as well as their families. They are an open, dedicated, and above all helpful organization.
Anime Twin Cities is pleased to be involved in helping raise money for AUSM because many people in the greater fandom community are on the autism spectrum. Many more might be, but have gone undiagnosed their whole lives. AUSM is in our community to support not only the diagnosed people on the spectrum, but also those of us who might be, but have never been diagnosed.
If you feel moved to support this worthy cause, please go here to donate. Also, remember to put Anime Twin Cities in the field for team name.
Here are some links if you would like to know more about AUSM’s mission or services.
If you would like to walk with Anime Twin Cities, please email us and we will let you know how you can join our team.
Studio Ghibli's latest masterpiece, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, is now available on Blu-ray and DVD!
Based on the Japanese folktale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter", the film tells the story of a tiny girl found inside a shining stalk of bamboo by an old bamboo cutter and his wife. The infant grows rapidly into an exquisite young lady, seemingly destined for nobility. The mysterious young princess enthralls all who encounter her, but ultimately she must confront her fate.
